About the spread of false news on social media regarding Bangalore-Mysore highway






With regards to the fake news circulating about the Bengaluru - Mysuru Highway

On 08/08/2023, there was a fake news reported about the Bengaluru - Mysuru highway on a social media platform (Facebook). The news was that a family travelling in a car from Bengaluru, on the highway have observed many miscreants and dacoits roaming around on the highway and have cautioned people not to travel on this route.

After fact checking, it was found that the photo was not related to the said highway and the news posted was fake. Further investigations into the matter show that there were no such incidents reported. Previous such incidents which had been brought to the notice have been detected.

This Facebook post being fake, it is requested that the public do not believe the same.

This is to bring to the notice of the public that they can use the Bengaluru - Mysuru highway 24/7 without any fear. To ensure safe travel, regular highway patrolling is enforced. Additionally, 112 can be contacted by the commuters for any assistance or help from the police.
